We are looking for a Small Pet Carer to join our friendly and busy onsite team.
Working alongside a small team of Pet Carers and supported by Specialists in Small Pets, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the Small Pets in our care.
As a Small Pet Carer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of any of our 11 Small Pet species, ensuring all their welfare needs are met to a gold standard whilst they are in our care. Day to day activities will include health checking and environment cleaning as well as socialisation of our pets and enriching their environments.
In addition, you will:
- Be responsible for accurate and effective record keeping
- Work alongside and support other internal teams in Pet Care
- Complete behavioural assessments and deliver behavioural interventions
- Work as one team to provide an efficient service for pets in our care
- Assist fosterers and new owners when animals are entering or leaving our site
- Follow protocols for disease prevention, in line with health and safety guidelines and regulations
To be considered as a Small Pet Carer, you will need:
- A GCSE in English or equivalent
- A full UK drivers licence
- Significant experience of work or voluntary work with Small Pets
- Proven communication skills within a team
- A highly developed understanding of the Animal Welfare Act with regards to Small Pets
- A basic understanding and skills of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Demonstrable experience of handling Small Pets in a welfare friendly manner
This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, including every other weekend.
The starting salary for this position is £21,255 - £22,635 depending on experience.
