n opportunity to join a fun and friendly team offering you all the skills and knowledge you need for a career in the industry. Your role will be to monitor groups of dogs at the day care centre ensuring that they are in good health and interacting with each other in a safe and friendly manner.
This role will be varied and include all aspects of working with dogs in a busy dog day care centre.
Duties will include but not limited to;
- Being vigilant in the supervision of the care and wellbeing of the dogs
- Playing and interacting with the dogs with games and activities
- Feeding the dogs at lunchtime and maintaining a fresh supply of water
- Ensuring any dog waste is bagged up and cleaned away immediately
- Talking to customers about their dog’s eventful day
- General cleaning duties of the working environment including walls, flooring, staff room and dog vans
- Being able to walk and exercising a group of dogs daily
Desired skills and Qualities
- An interest in dogs is a necessity and you must be confident in handling multiple dogs of all sizes and breeds
- Have good communication skills
- Previous dog experience is an advantage, but not necessary, just need a passion for animals.
- We are looking for a caring, reliable and punctual person to work as part of a team
- They will need to be well presented and polite
- The applicant also needs to be hardworking and prepared to work outside in all weathers
Desired qualifications
- GCSEs or equivalent grade A*-C/9-4 in maths and English desirable
- Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher qualification in animal care
Future prospects
- All previous apprentices have gone on to be hired by the dog day care centre
- More courses available to further learning
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 animal care apprenticeship.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on-site visit throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
