We have two exciting openings for committed Animal Care Assistants to join the wonderful team at our Southridge Animal Centre in Potters Bar to provide care for all animals in the centre. The shifts will consist of 7.5 hour days on a rostered basis with varying days, every other weekend and Bank holidays
The RSPCA's vision is to create a society where no animal suffers unnecessarily. Unfortunately some animals that come into our care have been abandoned, abused, neglected or otherwise mistreated. Rehabilitation is a huge part of what we do, They may arrive terrified so Our job is to make rescued animals feel safe, and take the time to show them how to trust again. Our aim is to place every animal who walks or is carried through our doors into new, responsible, kind and caring homes, and our dedicated, passionate team work tirelessly to make this a reality,
About Southridge
Southridge occupies a 22-acre site that nestles in the bottom of a small valley surrounded by the lush green Hertfordshire countryside and our facilities enable us to take in many different species of animal rescued by the RSPCA. At any one time we could be caring for over 250 animals.
Animals are treated with respect, tenderness and love, and both their physical and mental needs are met to help them learn to trust again.
What's involved?
- Cleaning animal accommodation for cats and dogs to the required standard set by the RSPCA
- Preparing and providing food and water for all animals in the establishment
- Providing exercise opportunities for the animals in your care
- Performing regular health checks on all animals and giving medical treatments as prescribed by the centres consulting Veterinary Surgeon
- Attending to the needs of the individual animals including providing exercise/socialisation and grooming for all animals within the care of the centre
- Communicating with members of the public, representing the RSPCA positively and professionally at all times.
- Working as part of a team with staff and volunteers
- Completing all relevant animal paperwork and updating the Centres computer data base for all animals held on site
- Assisting with fundraising activities
About you

- Previous experience working with domestic animals in a kennel and cattery setting essential
- previous experience of working with farm animals,
- Good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
- Good customer care skills
- Animal Care qualifications are desirable
- Hold a full driving license
