Contract Type: Permanent.

Location: Wirral based Evoke HQ and customer offices/sites as required, flexible working.

We are looking to hire a talented Android Developer to design, build, and maintain the next generation of Android applications. Your primary focus will be developing high-end applications for the latest Android mobile devices. Your duties may include collaborating with the design team for new application features, maintaining the core code, and updating applications published on the PlayStore.

To ensure success as an Android Developer, you should have a strong working knowledge of Android Frameworks, have extensive knowledge of Kotlin, proficiency in Java is a bonus, and be able to work as part of a team. Ultimately, an outstanding Android Developer should be able to create functional, attractive applications that perfectly meet the needs of the user.

Android Developer Responsibilities:

  • Designing and building mobile applications for an Android platform.
  • Collaborating with the design team to define app features.
  • Ensuring quality and performance of application to specifications.
  • Identifying potential problems and resolving application bottlenecks.
  • Fixing application bugs before final release.
  • Publishing applications on the Playstore.
  • Maintaining the code of the applications.
  • Designing and implementing application updates.
  • Work with the Android team to ensure effective solutions to Android issues cross team.
  • Liaise with clients and the Senior Android developer to provide elegant solutions to the problems posed.

Android Developer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience as an app developer.
  • Proficient in Kotlin
  • Knowledge of Android best practices
  • Keen interest in working with/knowledge of Jetpack Compose
  • Experience with Android Frameworks such as Android Jetpack (especially the lifecycle and navigation components), Retrofit, Apollo GraphQL, Koin/Dagger/Hilt, Kotlin Coroutines/Flows, etc
  • Knowledge of back-end services.
  • Proficient with version control systems, preferably Git
  • Familiarity with integrating with push notification services, specifically Firebase Cloud Messaging.
  • Experience working with 3rd-party integrations, including but not limited to Stripe, Onfido, and Google Maps.
  • Experience integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
