Anglian Water supplies to over four million domestic and commercial customers, so it’s crucial that we deliver clean, safe water efficiently and effectively. We undertake rigorous water-testing procedures; protect thousands of kilometres of rivers and wetland parks and work tirelessly to preserve biodiversity in the area.
We’re currently looking for an Analytical Chemist to join our Huntingdon based laboratory. Working in our modern and well equipped laboratory, your role as the Analytical Chemist will be varied and faced paced.
The role will involve using primarily ICP-OES and ICP-MS analysis techniques and developing skills within the team. You’ll be carrying out analysis of water and environmental samples to support our regulatory and operational requirements.
A significant element of the role will be involved in developing and validating new methodology and writing and reviewing SOPs.
You will work closely with the Laboratory Operations Manager in providing a high quality analytical service to our customers. Whether it is on individual projects or working as part of a team, you’ll need to be able to balance your various workloads and assist in the guidance and supervision of the Analysts.

What does it take to be an Analytical Chemist?
Experienced in ICP-OES + ICP-MS to resolve complex technical problems. Ability to troubleshoot, resolve and minimise issues with instrumentation.
Knowledgeable in method development + take responsibility for continuous improvement of methodology
Ability to analyse, compare, interpret and make judgements based on data
Experience working in a regulated environment an advantage but not essential (e.g. ISO 17025, ISO 9001)
Able and willing to transfer technical knowledge Ability to troubleshoot, resolve and minimise issues with instrumentation
Identifying and development own specialist technical skills and knowledge
Understanding our customer requirements and how customers use our analytical data
