Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £39,248 to £43,517 per annum (Grade K) | Norwich

The Insight and Analytics Service at Norfolk County Council are looking for a number of Analysts, across a range of different levels, to join the team and help as we strive to use data effectively and innovatively to help drive improved outcomes for the people of Norfolk.

Norfolk County Council is the main local authority for Norfolk providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We take a lead in critical policy areas, and we work in partnership with local businesses, voluntary organisations and other local authorities in order to provide the people of Norfolk with first class services.

Our Insight and Analytics service are tasked with ensuring we can harness the potential of our data, using evidence and best practice to support and inform decisions around policy, strategy, plans and budgets, and in turn to deliver ambitious growth for Norfolk. Working with large volume of complex data from multiple sources, our job is to make sense of the data, analysing what it is telling us and thinking strategically about how we use it. We support other services within the council, providing advice and guidance backed up with tangible evidence.

We’ve got roles across a range of levels, from Senior Analyst to Analyst. Broadly speaking, they will all involve using and analysing data from multiple sources to help measure performance, understand customers and inform decisions. The more senior the role, the more complex the projects you’ll be working on, with a higher degree of autonomy. Working as part of a collaborative, forward thinking service, you’ll have a naturally inquisitive nature and you’ll be at home working with complex data sets. You’ll be expected to contribute ideas, challenge ways of thinking and bring a different perspective to projects.

To be considered for the roles, you’ll need a proven track record of experience working in an Analytical role, and ideally you’ll have worked with large data sets. You’ll be comfortable handling and processing data, as well as presenting results. For a breakdown of the different roles, please see the attached job descriptions, which will give you a more detail on the levels of responsibility and required experience.

If you have a preference for a particular role then please state this on your application. Equally, we’re happy to consider you for more than one position and will be able to assess where best you might fit into the team once we’ve reviewed your application.

We know we’re asking for a lot, but in return we think we have a lot to offer. There’s the roles themselves, where you will be part of a team delivering some really interesting work that will have a positive impact across the organisation and beyond. Then there’s the working environment at Norfolk County Council, where we put work life balance at the forefront and offer flexible, smarter working arrangements, all underpinned by leading edge technology. There’s also our physical environment here in Norfolk, where you will be surrounded by a unique blend of beaches, broads, countryside and culture, which we think is hard to beat!

We might be biased, but we think it’s a great team to join, delivering some really impactful work. If you’re still reading, and you think you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
