HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes which include private market funds, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure, private debt and venture capital, and has AUM of $58 billion.
We are currently seeking experienced individuals to join this team as Analyst – Operational Due Diligence. The role holders will have responsibility for performing operational due diligence reviews for investments in hedge funds and private market funds (private equity, private debt, etc.). Such responsibilities will include conducting due diligence reviews, drafting assessment reports of managers, and making presentations to various committees and stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct operational due diligence meetings of external investment managers as part of the investment process. These meetings discuss all areas of operations to assess the strength of the organization and its ability to mitigate operational risk.
- Document due diligence meetings conducted in the specified report template and present findings to the various committees and stakeholders.
- Perform regulatory research and reviews of managers.
- Analyze underlying manager financial statements.
- Research foreign markets to assess regulatory and tax issues involving trading/establishing a local presence in those markets.
- Assist team members on special projects.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- A Chartered Accountant qualification or Chartered Financial Analyst qualification is essential for this role
- Experience of auditing or performing due diligence on an alternative investment manager or fund.
- Working knowledge of industry standards of hedge funds and private market funds is a requirement for this role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly numerate and organised with good attention to detail
- Ability to remain on top of multiple projects at one time.
- Self-starter, able to demonstrate initiative, well-developed time management skills.
- Confident with stakeholder engagement at all levels, notably C-suite.
- A positive and proactive attitude with flexibility to accommodate a changing environment and a willingness to take on new responsibilities
This is a Hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
