CIOP are responsible for the digital information, systems and technologies used by staff and students across The Open University. Covering all aspects of digital technology at the OU, from sourcing and maintaining systems, through to providing frontline IT support for staff and students.

The role

The Open University is recruiting an IT Operations Support Analyst.

The IT Department within the CIO Portfolio is seeking an IT Operations Support Analyst to provide support and advice where appropriate to users of IT services throughout the University through operational monitoring of services and systems.

As an IT Operations Support Analyst, you will be responsible for responding accordingly to IT alerts and notifications in a timely manner. In addition, the post holder will participate in service deployments and upgrades in conjunction with the release team.

Please note, the post will require work to be undertaken outside of core office hours on a shift rota basis. The shift pattern is as follows; 2 x days 07:00 - 19:00, 2 x nights 19:00 - 07:00, followed by 4 days off.

Skills and experience

This role will suit you if you:

  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles and models associated with IT Service Operations
  • Are a confident communicator with excellent customer service skills
  • Able to prioritise successfully with a good attention to detail
  • Possess experience of working within IT previously, having a solid understanding of varying IT packages
