Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Institutional Research, the Data Developer and Analyst will be responsible for multiple deliverables on the team, including:


  • building out a data warehouse back-end infrastructure through to an interactive suite of front end Power BI dashboards.
  • providing primary data support to college strategic planning, institutional evaluation and environmental scanning for various business units across the college.
  • preparing key ministry data reports.
  • supporting the coordination and execution of college wide surveys, including provincial surveys.

Duties and Responsibilities

End to End dashboard and report building:


  • Develop interactive dashboards in Power BI, representing key insights as identified by decision makers across the college.
  • Build back-end tables, views etc. in Azure SQL that connect to dashboards, and adhere to software development best practices
  • Participate in requirements gathering activities and contribute to the development of Product Requirements Documents.
Data support:
  • Connect to multiple primary data sources to support analysis.
  • Deliver complex data compilation, predictive modeling, statistics, trend analysis, report development, and archiving activities.
  • Compile, prepare, audit, report and verify data for various ministry reporting requirements.
Survey co-ordination:
  • Ensure appropriate questionnaire administration; ensure college-wide adherence to timelines and acceptable methods, and handle related requests.
  • Communicate results through appropriate reports and ensure data is easily accessible by all relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a four (4) year degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, information systems, social or behavioural sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in institutional research in higher education, or a closely related field, including working with administrative data systems and querying tools
  • Experience building SQL Data Warehouse infrastructure is required
  • Exceptional skill with Python, and/or other relevant program languages is required
  • Exceptional computer literacy including expert level Excel is required
  • Expertise with dashboard software such as PowerBI or Tableau, particularly those connected to live data sources, is an asset
  • Qualitative Survey design and analysis is an asset
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision-making and prioritization skills
