Bath & North East Somerset Council
Full Time Keynsham, England 27344 - 41496 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Service Area: Place Management

Department: Business Intelligence

Bath and North East Somerset Council is at an exciting point in its data journey, with our corporate Business Intelligence team at its centre. As part of the Business Intelligence Development Team and working closely with the Performance Team, you will help us find new ways of working with data. Together we will use new tools and technologies to improve our use of data across a wide range of Council services. This new post will be working primarily with our Place Management Directorate (covering a diverse range of services from waste to highway maintenance, City Centre management, and the Clean Air Zone) to help unlock the value of their data to the organisation.

Much of the Council’s infrastructure is SQL based, with PowerBI and SSRS used for analytics, so familiarity with these systems is important, but there are a range of proprietary systems used and flexibility around disparate data sources is a must.

You will undertake a range of activities, from data extraction & transformation, to data modelling, analytics, and report building. This is a career graded role and we welcome applicants at all levels, whether you are early in your Business Intelligence career or offer more experience and specialisms. Training and support will be provided at all levels as part of a skills development framework. What is essential, however, is the ability to handle work with curiosity, in a friendly team moving towards Agile working practices.

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.

Why B&NES Council?

We offer a wide range of benefits, to ensure that you are paid fairly for your work, have the flexibility to enjoy a great work/life balance, and have the support you need. These include:

  • A competitive salary package
  • A range of flexible working and hybrid working options, including flexi-time, four regional offices and home-working, dependent on service requirements
  • A generous holiday allowance and special leave provisions
  • The Local Government Pension Scheme
  • A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme – whatever life throws at you; we are committed to supporting you and your well-being at work and home
  • Professional and personal development including in-house training and accredited qualifications including Aspiring Manager and Leadership Development
  • Discount scheme including the VECTIS card that offers numerous local discounts including cycle to work and free entry to numerous local attractions with B&NES
