We are delighted to be working in partnership with a long-standing client located in Edinburgh City Centre who are looking to recruit an AML Compliance Officer to join them on a full time, permanent basis.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced individual looking for an opportunity within a firm which truly values their staff. Working as part of a small team you will manage all compliance and risk management in the area of AML whilst supporting the wider business in line with all AML processes and procedures.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Diligently review and assess the CDD/KYC work performed on each active client to ensure it is robust, complete and compliant with the AML Regulations
- Ensure ongoing monitoring is being performed
- Perform AML CDD/KYC checks on new and existing clients and complete any additional research as necessary
- Perform and review PEP and sanctions searches as necessary on natural persons, collecting personal identification and storing securely
- Update systems, databases and registers to ensure the firm’s AML central records are correct at all times
- Review all matter risk assessments prepared and ensure they are compliant
- Respond to AML queries raised, including dealing with as appropriate
- Providing advice to staff on the practical requirements for CDD on clients where enhanced due diligence is required on a case by case basis
- Review all client funds received on a daily basis ensuring backup has been obtained where required
- Ensure Source of wealth has been reviewed and addressed for all clients and appropriate documentation is held on file
- Provide all aspects of support to the wider business with regards to AML/KYC/CDD/SOW/SOF
- Manage and implement a rolling AML training program for all relevant employees, including the provision of training for new starts
- Provide one to one training as required to any relevant employees
- Ensure the firms AML training materials are kept fully up to date with any agreed changes
- Monitor and keep fully informed of new procedures, guidance and current best practice
- Support the maintenance and development of the firm's AML framework/PCP’s on an ongoing basis
- Be proactive in the identification of actual and potential business risk, and provide solutions to mitigate this risk
- Assessment of file reviews conducted by internal or external staff and of any internal compliance failures; arranging for any necessary remedial actions or improvements
- Undertake additional compliance responsibilities as requested
To be considered for this opportunity, our client does require the following experience /background:
- Previous experience working within an AML environment within the Legal sector (our client may consider applications from other sectors too)
- Excellent analytical skills and great attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to interact effectively with others and people of all levels across the business
- Highly organised with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements
- Strong work ethic with high standards at all times
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle a variety of tasks
- Strong IT Skills and ability to use different systems including MS Office, Intranet
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to be flexible and proactive
