As an Ambulance Support Worker (previously known as Emergency Care Assistant), you will be working in support of front-line clinicians on an ambulance, you will be a key part of our emergency service. We work 24/7, 365 days a year, which means you will need to work flexibly, up to 12 hours at a time, including nights, weekends and bank holidays, in all weathers.
The role of ASW can provide an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in healthcare and within Yorkshire Ambulance Service. You will be required to undertake aLevel 3 Ambulance Support Worker Apprenticeship.
This is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your operational competency in the care field. Following successful completion of this it will enable you to benefit from career progression within the Trust including development opportunities to become a HCPC registered paramedic. Please find the structure of our Enhanced Career Pathway Model attached.
This vacancy is for stations across South Yorkshire only.

No two shifts will be the same; you might respond to a road accident victim with multiple severe injuries or be required to transfer a very sick baby to a specialist treatment centre.
As an Ambulance Support Worker, you will be a highly visible role model, not only in respect of what you do, but also in the way you conduct yourself with our patients, the public and colleagues.

You must have 3 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Maths and English Language or Functional skills to include English and Maths at Academic Level 2. Further information about equivalent qualifications can be found on the gov.uk website.
