Position: Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA)
Customer: NHS Patient Transfer Service (PTS)
Pay Rate: £28,442.70
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift patterns: Any 5 from 7
Shift Times: Various Shift Patterns available
Location: Enfield, London (EN3 4NQ)
- Friday to Monday 09:00 - 21:00 (x12)
- Tuesday to Saturday 15:00 - 01:00 (x6)
- Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 - 20:00 (x3)
- Monday to Friday 15:00 - 01:00 (x1)
- Monday to Friday 11:00 - 21:00 (x1)
- 2 Week Rotation - Monday to Friday 10:00 - 20:00, then Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday 10:00 - 20:00 (x20)
Please Note: Applicants must hold a full UK manual Driving License. This vacancy is subject to an Enhanced Criminal Record Check, a Drug and Alcohol Test, and a Driving Assessment / Theory Test.
DHL's Patient Transfer Service (PTS) transports patients between hospitals, homes and clinics for medical appointments and treatment. Our ambulance service provides non-urgent and non-specialist services, but also has the facility to transport high dependency patients. Our service is essential for patients who are too ill, injured or frail to travel by themselves or with family members.
WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
- Transporting non-emergency patients to and from hospital, clinics, or other healthcare facilities
- Working as a single or double crew, responsible for either driving the ambulance or supporting the travelling patient
- Regular heavy lifting, using equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers and carry chairs
- Assisting patients in and out of the ambulance, ensuring their comfort and safety during transportation
- Liaising with healthcare professionals and other staff to ensure a high level of patient care
- Completing patient documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintaining the ambulance equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- A caring and understanding nature, with friendly manner
- Previous care-giving experience would be advantageous
- The ability to work in a role that requires regular heavy lifting of patients, as well as exposure to bodily fluids (including urine, faeces, vomit and blood)
- Successful candidates must hold a full, clean UK Driving Licence
- A calm and considerate driver with good knowledge of UK Road Signs and the Highway Code
- Pass a Drug and Alcohol test
