All new applicants will undergo all compliance checks and complete all essential training modules priors to shifts being offered.
Ambulance Care Assistant Role:
1. Ambulance care assistants or Patient Transport Service (PTS) drivers transport disabled, elderly, sick or vulnerable people to and from outpatient clinics, day care centres and routine hospital admissions.
As well as driving, you'll lift and help patients in and out of the vehicle. You'll make sure they're safe and comfortable during the journey and arrive on time for their appointment.
Some of your passengers will be anxious about their hospital visit and others will lead isolated lives so will value your reassuring manner and the chance to chat. You'll often see the same people on a regular basis and get to know them.
2. Record, process and share information / paperwork regarding patient condition, care undertaken and observations to all appropriate healthcare partners.
3. Adhere to Ambulance Service 24 policy’s in respect of the control of confidential information as outlined within the data protection act and the Caldicott principles.
4. Complete all relevant operational documentation, e.g. daily routine vehicle checks, patient listings and other information in accordance with Ambulance Services 24 policy.
5. Maintain clear and regular communication with the Control Room and other Healthcare professionals / colleagues, in line with agreed protocols, e.g. Caldicott. Ensure that the needs of the patient are met, and operational efficiency and effectiveness is maintained.
6. Physically manoeuvre and / or lift patients, including the use of Ambulance Service 24 supplied carrying aids, in circumstances where patients are unable to manage alone, after undertaking a manual handling risk assessment e.g. up and down stairs and within restricted spaces.
7. Required to take personal responsibility for continued professional development through the personal development review process, the knowledge and skills framework and Ambulance Services 24 training sessions
