Aircraft Maintenance General Manager
Type of Position: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Oakland, California
Department: Maintenance
Salary: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
Safety Sensitive: Yes
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to testing under a FAA mandated drug and alcohol program.
Purpose of Role:
The Aircraft Maintenance General Manager is expected to lead and manage all daily maintenance operations on the floor. It is expected that the General Manager works with Maintenance Management to set up guidance on workflows and priorities as needed. The General Manager also provides oversight and guidance for the Maintenance Technician Team. The Shop Manager ensures high quality maintenance and regulatory compliance standards are kept during aircraft maintenance in accordance with the General Operating Manual (GOM) and General Maintenance Manual (GMM).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall supervision of all workflows including scheduling and work assignments
- Continually strive for ways to optimize workflow, improve efficiency, and maximize shop organization
- Direct management and supervision of all shop floor staff
- Schedule/coordinate the retrieval of projects with customers
- Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, and unscheduled maintenance activities
- Trains new technicians on PCJ systems and procedures.
- Plans, directs, layouts and coordinates the activities of the Maintenance Department to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency.
- Trains and assists subordinates in proper procedures, methods, and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
- Makes certain that the responsible mechanic properly executes all necessary work records.
- Provide time estimates.
- Conduct Quarterly Conversations and Annual Performance Reviews
- Ensures that assigned personnel follow all quality, safety, and security procedures.
- Performs work in compliance with Company policies and procedures, FAA regulations while demonstrating the highest standards of workmanship.
- Performs parts procurement to include verification of part authenticity, proper documentation, shipping/receiving and inventory management.
- May be required to provide rapid response and deployment when needed for aircraft on ground (AOG) maintenance support.
- Conducts hangar/shop facilities maintenance and inspections as required.
- Assures proper documentation and recording of all maintenance activities performed on company aircraft.
- Assures that all personal in-house training requirements are met.
- Maintains all company GSE as directed.
- Regularly attends safety or other departmental meetings with the Director of Maintenance as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
- Minimum 5 year of experience in Part 135 /145 turbine powered aircraft operations
- Minimum 2 years of management experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand all company manuals, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, aircraft flight/maintenance manuals.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, etc.
- Scheduling flexibility to work overtime given the unpredictable nature of a constantly changing flight schedule and unscheduled maintenance demands
- The ability to occasionally travel to off-site maintenance events and provide oversight of company aircraft, as well as scheduled maintenance events at repair facilities.

- Ability to successfully pass a background screening
- A valid Driver’s License
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Constant physical activity including bending, reaching and with prolonged periods of sitting in aircraft cockpits.
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds vertically through 4 feet and maneuver that load at arm’s length.
- The ability to work from ladders and other equipment for extended periods.
- The ability to work while kneeling for an extended period of time.
- The ability to work on exposed aircraft parking ramp with rain and winds.
