Agriculture Feedstock Manger - Inverness
Introduction:
Acorn Bioenergy is a small but rapidly growing developer of renewable energy facilities in the UK. Our anaerobic digestion plants produce carbon-negative biomethane that will be used to decarbonise the UK’s gas and transport networks and strengthen national energy security.
You will be joining at a key moment in Acorn’s development: we have an ambitious strategy, a strong core team, and significant funding in place, and will be rolling out £450 million of new facilities across the UK over the next two years.
The role:
We are looking for a motivated individual with broad agricultural experience to join our team. Supported by the Scottish Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for securing feedstock agreements for our sites in Scotland. This will involve liaising with farmers across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire to secure large quantities of silage, farmyard manures and residues. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of local agriculture in the areas mentioned above. Ideally you will be situated in Inverness and will work from home with the ability travel for farm and site visits.
For this role you will be required to:
- Develop and maintain relationships with companies, individuals to secure the required acreage for silages.
- Act as a point of contact for farmers to demonstrate support required for their business.
- Appropriate record keeping and documentation of development activities.
- Be flexible and support a wide range of tasks, including project management, reporting and communications.
Role Requirements:
- Essential:
- Broad knowledge of agricultural activity across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in negotiating contracts
- Computer literacy
- Commercially astute
- Full UK driving licence, prepared for regular travel across Scotland
- Desirable:
- Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme (FACTS) qualified
- HND or formal agricultural qualification
- Based in Inverness or surrounding area
- Ability to work full-time
