Job description
MI5 safeguards the UK against a range of threats, such as terrorism and state threats like espionage and sabotage. Alongside our British Intelligence partners MI6 and GCHQ, we provide the UK government with the information they need to protect national security. Join us, and you’ll enjoy varied and rewarding work in a supportive and encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
We’re looking for Agent Handlers who’ll work with members of the public providing MI5 with information on potential threats. Demonstrating a high level of empathy, as well as excellent administrative skills, sound judgement and the ability to work independently, you’ll build trusting relationships - and gather intelligence that keeps the country safe.
You’ll have a minimum of two GCSEs in Maths and English Language at Grades 9-4 (A*-C); we’ll teach you the rest. With dedicated support and guidance from experienced colleagues, as well as regular feedback and mentorship, you’ll gain the skills you need to fulfil your potential doing exciting and truly unique work.
The application window for our Agent Handler role will open on Friday 26th May 2023 at 10am.
In the meantime, we encourage:
- All those from an ethnic minority background
- Women (of any background)
to register their interest for this forthcoming opportunity*
As part of the registration of interest, you will be invited to several online events prior to the campaign opening. There will be Insight Events where you can find out more about the role, hear from real staff and have the chance to ask us questions. We are also offering a Skills Event which will provide general tips about completing a job application, preparing for interview etc. These events will run on:
Insight Events – Wednesday 24th May 2023 (1230pm and 5pm)
Skills Event – Thursday 25th May 2023 (1pm)
These events will last for approximately 1 hour.
Please note that a registration of interest does not constitute a job application, nor will such registration have any bearing upon the recruitment process itself. Any individuals who register their interest and who decide subsequently to apply for the role of Agent Handler, will need to complete an application form once the window for applications has opened.
We are confining registrations of interest to these groups only, due to their current under-representation in our workforce. Once the application window has opened, we welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of their ethnic background, gender, and/or any other characteristic(s). Please check our nationality eligibility criteria requirements. All applications will be assessed solely on merit.
