AFS Fraud Analysis & Detection Assistant Manager

In a nutshell
Working with the AFS Fraud Systems & Analytics team to ensure Argos Financial Services (AFS) are maximising data capability to optimise the effectiveness of the AFS Fraud Strategy and Policy. You will also support in the reduction of fraud risk through effective management and monitoring of models and systems in place.
Location
Manchester & Home. Including regular travel to other sites, mainly in Widnes and Edinburgh.
What you need to do
- Support the AFS Fraud Systems & Analytics Manager in aspects of system governance and supplier liaison for Argos Financial Services fraud systems
- On-going review, validation and optimisation of fraud system performance
- Drive internal systems optimisation or work with AFS outsource suppliers to identify, monitor and resolve fraud systems performance issues, gaps and tuning opportunities within agreed SLAs
- Design, implement and validate new rules/settings in response to specific/emerging threats following all mandated change controls
- Maintaining a central audit trail of all fraud related system rules and referral settings, and changes to those settings, together with the underlying rationale.
- Evaluate, analyse and leverage a range of statistical and written information in order to recommend, review and implement decisions that will have a positive impact on the P&L
- Baseline current decisioning performance, track and report on model effectiveness
- Ensure our Conduct Risk Framework is embedded within our fraud strategies
- Working with the Senior Risk Management team, you’ll support the deployment of their framework for our partners and suppliers, ensuring governance is measured in line with process, policy and risk appetite.
- Support the oversight and feedback on the quality of decisions within 1st line business areas
- Lead the analysis of the latest trends in fraud at an industry level
- Lead bespoke ad hoc extraction and analysis of fraud-related data in support of specific investigations or emerging threats, and subsequent participation in any relevant meetings or steering groups.
- Conduct threat assessments and provide latest trends in Financial Crime at an industry level
- Build a network of specialist contacts within the fraud analytics space, to help ensure awareness of emerging threats & best practice.
What you need to know
- Educated to degree level or in possession of an equivalent professional qualification (e.g.: Banking exams, insurance exams, accountancy exams) or equivalent experience
- Relevant specialist Financial Crime qualifications, such as ICA Diploma in FC/AML are desirable
- Experience of using FC/Fraud systems and platforms in an analytics or intelligence role, along with predictive modelling experience. With the experience obtained in environments such as 1st or 2nd Line Financial Crime or Risk; Specialist FC/Risk consulting firm or decisioning system supplier; FCA, NCA or law enforcement.
- Advanced level understanding of SQL or SAS, data analysis and predictive rule design.
- Understanding of Financial Crime law and best practice in Fraud are desirable attributes.
- Effective relationship management and interpersonal skills with both good written and verbal communication skills. You should be able to nuance a message to reflect your recipients and circumstances.

- Retail Banking experience preferred but not essential
