Job Overview
This is a hybrid role normally 1 day per week in the office, (Bristol or Birmingham) with flexible working available. We support continuous development including those who wish to continue or begin their CIPD studies.
Whilst this role is full time, we are willing to consider part time or job share, please include this in your application, including the type of working pattern/hours you would prefer.
You will be joining a team of talented and professional employee relations specialists. Our purpose is to support our Managers to make Mitie a great place to work. We advise and coach Managers in handling and concluding ER cases, upholding fair and just policies in-line with legislation and best practice whilst balancing risk and commerciality to deliver the best results for our business.
Main Duties
- Responsible for managing a case load of various complex ER issues using your knowledge in ER and employment law
- Managing multiple complex ER cases using and updating the case management system effectively, from receipt of a case through to its conclusion
- You will deliver a quality service remotely, by given our customers across the UK and Europe a positive and supporting experience as possible by being professional, approachable and empathetic
- You will have exposure to a wide variety of contracts across many sectors, in both the public and private sectors
- You will be part of a wider customer service focussed HR Shared Service, our People Support function
- You will act as an advocate for the People Support team, Mitie's central HR function
- You will have the opportunity to collaborate with experts including Legal the management of Early Conciliation and ET claims and Occupational Health teams
- Conduct ER policy and process reviews and make recommendations for improvement. and driving the implementation of improved services, policies, and procedures.
- Build relationships with the wider HR team and escalate significant concerns in their business areas.
- Collaborate with Senior Stakeholders including HR Business Partners, ER Managers and Head of ER for referral of high risk ER cases.
What we are looking for
- Employee Relations knowledge and experience is essential
- CIPD qualified desirable but not essential.
- Shared service centre experience preferable.
- Proficient IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- An understanding of HR systems would be an advantage.
- Up to date working knowledge of current employment law.
- HR advisory experience, with a good working knowledge of theory and best practice.
- Experience or working in a unionised environment preferable.
- Strong understanding and respect for confidentiality.
