Juno College of Technology
Full Time Toronto 80000 - 52500 CAD ANNUAL Today
Job description

About the Position

We’re looking for Mentors who are collaborative, empathetic, and passionate about sharing their knowledge to help with Juno's part-time courses!

In this role, you’ll work directly with our students and part-time instructors, actively creating and promoting a comfortable and friendly learning environment. We’re dedicated to making sure that all of our students are comfortable learning, exploring, and engaging in our space. We care deeply about all of our students and we want to ensure a thoughtful, stimulating, and positive experience from their very first class with us.

As a Mentor you will be directly responsible for supporting our instructors through lessons, code-alongs, and interactive exercises. You’ll also work with students to support their projects, help them resolve issues, and coach them through any tough spots, such as code debugging and technical problem-solving.

About Us

Founded by Heather Payne in 2012, Juno College of Technology offers best-in-class experiences for those looking to launch and grow their careers. With industry-leading graduate success, caring instructors, specialized career support, and the most inclusive alumni community around, we're here to help our community achieve their goals.

At Juno, we love what we do. From our Instructors to Career Advisors to our Operations team, we all have individual expertise and share a love for helping people change their lives. We’re experimental, curious, and flexible, and we’re focused on delivering results and putting the student experience first - oh, and we have lots of fun, too! With a growing team of over 35 and thousands of alumni and students, there’s a large community ready to welcome you to Juno!

Currently, our programs are Live Online and our team is working remotely, with the option to return to our downtown Toronto campus when it is safe to do so.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance, answer questions, and share your knowledge and passions with students both in-person and online
  • Quickly understand what is causing a student difficulty, whether it’s a concept or technical error, and lead them to discover a solution
  • If you’re unable to answer a student’s specific question, be comfortable asking another mentor or instructor for assistance
  • Provide supportive, positive, and encouraging written project feedback to students
  • Familiarize yourself with the notes and course content before a class so you’re prepared for questions that may arise

Your Qualifications

  • You are collaborative, energetic, empathetic, and a great technical problem solver
  • You have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the material being covered during the course you would like to mentor
  • You work well in a team setting alongside your lead instructor and other mentors
  • You are flexible, willing, and able to respond and adapt to different learning styles and personalities as well as a student’s particular goals and objectives in taking a Juno course
  • You are able to sufficiently use and explain tools and programs that will be used during the course.
  • You take initiative, deliver results, experiment, and improve
  • You’re comfortable using Git, GitHub, Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive
  • It would be great if you also have experience as a mentor, in any discipline
  • Most of all, you are enthusiastic, have a positive attitude, and a desire to help others!

Please note this is a part-time position, with hours in the evening or weekend depending on the course.
