Overview
The UK theatrical marketing team are responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the marketing campaigns for Sony Pictures Releasing across a variety of movies, recent releases include Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Matilda the Musical and No Hard Feelings. The department covers all marketing areas including advertising, publicity and promotions. The role of the Marketing & Promotions Manager is primarily working within the advertising, media and promotions departments, plus supporting the organisation of premieres and other events.
Key Responsibilities
To primarily support and work with the Marketing Director, Partnerships Director and Senior Advertising Manager in the development and execution of advertising and partnership activity for theatrical campaigns.
Assisting the Senior Advertising Manager
- Assist in the creation, development, tracking, trafficking, and distribution of advertising materials.
- Maintaining the archive of materials plus servicing advertising material requests for internal and external stakeholders.
- Involvement and contribution with media and creative agencies discussions in planning campaigns for forthcoming releases.
- Assisting with the organisation of film premieres: including ticketing, tracking RSVPs, seating plans and catering requirements.
- Working with the relevant agency for the management of development & finishing of advertising creative for print, outdoor, TV and managing the trafficking and delivery of materials on time within set deadlines.
- Admin support as required (PO’s, invoices, budget tracking, expenses).
Assisting the Partnerships Director (Brand & Media) UK
- Assisting in the development and implementation of promotional campaigns with brand and media partners in support of Sony Pictures’ latest releases.
- Day-to-day management of promotional campaigns, working closely with Sony’s LA office, securing creative approvals in time for partner deadlines
- Participating in creative kick-off meetings with brand and media partners, presenting creative guidelines and campaign assets to ensure high quality promotional materials
- Attending weekly status meetings with Sony’s brand partnership agency Lime, providing strategic direction and feedback from key stakeholders
- Assisting in the development and execution of media partnerships across digital, radio, print and AV platforms, collaborating with Sony’s media agency to recommend the most appropriate media partner for individual titles
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of experiential activity, including national mall tours and promotional roadshows alongside relevant agencies
- Management of Sony’s relationships with publishing and music partners
- Sourcing of prizes and merchandise for promotional campaigns from relevant agencies
- Organisation of screenings for promotional partners
- Assisting in the development of screening programmes to help generate positive word of mouth for new releases
- Daily management of budget and campaign tracker documents
- Ad hoc admin support as required (PO’s, invoices, expenses).
Support to Marketing Director & MD
- Participating in the preparation of campaign decks for international summits
- Updating the internal media budget system, raising media PO’s as required
Qualifications and/or Experience Required
- Typically 5 years’ experience, ideally in a film/entertainment environment
- Ideally of graduate caliber, with strong numeracy and computer skills
- Experience of working with SAP useful but not essential.
- A well organised self-starter, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Good interpersonal communication.
- Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to learn.
- Team player and able to get on well with people.
