Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are seeking Advanced Clinical Practitioners or Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join the General Medicine team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
The Medical ACP team is a new development operating as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team and in close collaboration with colleagues across the Medical Division, local health, South East Coast Ambulance service, NHS111. The team provide ward cover and rapid access medical assessment and intervention, and supporting early discharge facilitation. The Medical ACP team is supported by the General Medical Consultants, Registrars and SHO’s.
The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers whilst they uphold the Trust values.
The post holder will be practising autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) within the designated speciality area of general medicine to provide patient-centred clinical care across several wards. Their scope will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the directorate. The post holder will work towards keeping proficient in a set of core skills, defined by the Advanced Practice Assurance Group (APAG), which will allow them, if appropriate and deemed necessary, to be proposed to assist or be deployed to other clinical areas in a similar capacity, in order to ensure patient safety is maintained.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
