Annualised hours: Full-time from September to April (35 hours per week), May to August: 0 hours per week, Annualised over 12 Months.


We are looking for an Admissions Assistant within our Admissions, Marketing and Alumni team on a permanent Full-time basis. For this post we are looking for a high-quality candidate to play a key role in the Admissions Team, with responsibility for carrying out the initial stages of application processing which include screening application documents. This post will also be acting as one of our first points of contact, assisting enquirers by telephone and email.


The Opportunity:
Each September we welcome more than 650 international postgraduate students to the Business School. The Admissions Assistant has a vital role to play in processing their applications and providing good customer service in this first stage of their student journey. This year we were joined by students from over 70 different nationalities studying our MBA and 13 Masters Programmes.


The successful applicant will be efficient and customer-focused, with proven ability to plan and prioritise their own work to ensure that deadlines are met, while maintaining the ability to respond to ad hoc demands. Excellent communication skills are required, and the ability to establish good relationships with applicants from many countries as well as colleagues within the Admissions Team and the wider university community.

This position is a full-time (35 hours per week) open ended post. For the months of May to August, working hours will be zero. Annual leave will normally be taken during the months you are scheduled to work. Salary is calculated on an annualised basis and paid in 12 equal monthly installments.


The Admissions Team currently work a hybrid format, with 2 days in the office (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and 3 days remotely.

Your skills and attributes for success:
Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus relevant work experience or School education to Standard Grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
A strong customer focus with demonstrable awareness of email etiquette, in order to respond to queries in an appropriate manner, and a friendly and helpful telephone manner
Good IT skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email and demonstrable experience of using corporate databases
Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability and fast learning skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work as part of a team and some experience of prioritising own work.
