Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced counsellor to lead our new company, which focuses on providing college admissions guidance to international students seeking undergraduate and graduate education in the United States and Canada. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by international students, particularly those who have completed high school outside of North America.
Responsibilities:
College Admissions Guidance: Provide personalized guidance to international students, conducting research and identifying suitable colleges and universities based on their interests, academic strengths, and career aspirations.
Cultural and Educational Expertise: Understand and navigate the cultural and educational differences between international education systems and those in North America, assisting students in adapting to the new environment.
Application Assistance: Advise students on application requirements, assist in completing college applications, and provide guidance on essay writing and other application components.
Financial Aid and Scholarships: Inform students about financial aid options, scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial assistance available for international students.
Academic and Career Counseling: Help students explore potential majors and careers by providing resources, assessments, and personalized counseling sessions.
Counseling and Support: Offer emotional support and guidance to students throughout the college admissions process, addressing their concerns and helping them navigate challenges.
Team Building and Management: Build and manage an effective team, including operations, marketing, and other relevant departments, to deliver high-quality services to international students.
Reporting and Accountability: Report to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on company operations, performance, and strategy execution.
Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, changes in college admissions requirements, financial aid policies, and educational opportunities to ensure the delivery of up-to-date and relevant guidance.
Prior Experience and Qualifications: Ideally, have experience working as a counselor in a high school setting, with a bachelor's degree required and a master's degree preferred. A proven track record in helping international students is highly desirable.

Qualifications:
Proven leadership experience in a relevant field, demonstrating the ability to successfully build and grow an organization.
In-depth knowledge of college admissions processes and requirements, particularly for international students.
Familiarity with educational systems outside of North America and the ability to navigate cultural and educational differences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to a diverse range of students.
Strong organizational and managerial skills, including the ability to build and manage a team effectively.
Continuous learning mindset and a commitment to professional development in the field of college admissions counseling.
Familiarity with financial aid options and scholarship opportunities for international students.
Experience in marketing and promoting services in the education industry is an asset.
Previous experience working with international students or in a similar capacity is highly desirable.
