We have an exciting opportunity for an organised individual to join the University of Sheffield as Admissions Administrator, responsible for the processing of applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and for providing support to staff in a group of academic departments. This will include making standard admissions decisions and assisting with the making of non-standard decisions on behalf of academic departments. Your role will also involve responding to a range of admissions related queries from applicants and other external enquirers (schools, colleges, parents).
You will work closely alongside other members of your admissions team to help to ensure that admissions procedures are successfully completed and that policies are effectively adhered to.
The ideal candidate will be educated to A Level or equivalent and have a good standard of written English, as normally evidenced by GCSE English Language grade C or above, or equivalent. You will have previous experience of working in a similar role or busy office environment and good IT skills. You will also need to have good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent customer service skills, with experience of responding efficiently and effectively to phone and email enquiries. You will possess the ability to work effectively as part of a team, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively and be willing to work flexibly when necessary in order to meet deadlines.
The Admissions Administrator role sits within the dedicated and enthusiastic team of Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions. (SRMA). SRMA is organised into seven functional areas: Admissions Service, UK Student Recruitment, Widening Participation, Communications, Insight, Marketing and Faculty Liaison. Throughout the structure, members of the team engage proactively and positively in delivering an excellent customer experience which is fully aligned with the University’s Student Recruitment Strategy.
