Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Art (BIFCA) based in Wuhan, China, is a sector leading collaboration between Wuhan Textile University and Birmingham City University. It is one of only a few such international partnerships. BIFCA offers a unique cross-cultural experience and provides an excellent environment for innovative teaching.
Students successfully completing their programmes at BIFCA are able to gain a dual award from both BCU and WTU, they can choose between studying their whole programme in China or studying part in China and completing their programme at BCU, starting in year two.
Main Responsibilities:
The BIFCA Administrator plays a central role in enrolling students, resolving student queries, and coordinating between BIFCA and related faculties.
- Complete the enrolment for first-year students and re-enrolment for current continuing students.
- Update change of circumstances list (suspension of study, withdrawal, repeating a year, returning to study etc.).
- Make sure each student’s BCU status is updated accordingly to the WTU system.
- Work with each Faculty to help to collect module marksheets, join all exam boards and update the board decisions to WTU colleagues.
- Deal with responses and resolve all queries about various issues including Moodle, BCU student account, BCU direct access, students’ marks, transcript and appeal.
- Organize SSLC (Staff and Students Liaison Committee) meetings, take minutes and complete the feedback form.
- Organize BCU EPT exams for BIFCA students including arranging the exam timetable, coordinate with WTU colleagues about booking exam rooms and printing the exam papers.
- Update all student’s EPT scores to the Master lists when the result is finalized. Distribute the EPT results to WTU colleagues for class arrangement and to students for their own record.
- Help with organizing pre-sessional course when it is needed.
- Confirm the award checklist of graduate students, distribute BCU certificate to students and keep track of the list.
Desirable qualifications/skills/experiences:
- Educated to degree level or similar.
- Fluency/Near Fluency in Chinese and English.
- Relevant experience in a similar administrative role.

BIFCA is a collaborative effort between Birmingham City University and Wuhan Textile University, combining the expertise of both institutions to provide a number of creative arts courses at the fantastic campus in Wuhan, China. BIFCA provides all of our talented and ambitious students with access to the state-of-the-art facilities, including the latest 3D design and media production equipment, contained in a completely refurbished 10,000m² building.
As well as developing creative skills and experience, courses at BIFCA will be taught primarily in English, vastly improving student language skills and once more assisting with international career opportunities.
