The Faculty of Social Sciences welcomes applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its Faculty Operating Service, as an Administrator based on both Highfield and Boldrewood Campuses. As a member of our team, you will make an important and rewarding contribution to the exciting, varied, and engaging activity across our university, working with colleagues and students from diverse and interesting backgrounds. Successful applicants will be motivated, proactive team players who are culturally sensitive and are able to work effectively in a flexible and responsive environment.

As a member of our busy and engaged team, you will deliver a thoughtful and efficient service which meets the requirements of the faculty’s varied activities relating to the work environment across five academic schools, including: Business; Law; Mathematical Sciences; Education; and Economic, Political and Social Sciences. You will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to the Faculty of Social Sciences, especially in the delivery of its resource requirements, performing a range of responsibilities which might include working on space and building related projects and activities, organising office moves and monitoring facilities, and resources. You will be able to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external organisations and groups and be able to liaise confidently with your stakeholders. Your career so far might include some administrative work experience which allows you to use your own initiative, as well as manage your own time effectively with minimal supervision, or be looking for an opportunity to take a useful and relevant step in your career post-study.

About You

You will be adaptable, flexible, proactive and a team player. You will have strong interpersonal skills and a positive and driven approach. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines are also essential requirements. You will have strong IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office specifically Outlook and Excel. This role may suit either a motivated professional with relevant work experience looking for career development or a recent graduate with some experience looking for an opportunity to explore career opportunities within a higher education or public sector environment.

Successful candidates will be able to work flexibly and remotely and will be expected to spend at least 60% of their contracted hours working on campus. Flexibility will be required should the business need require a greater on-site presence.
