About the Role

Howard house Surgery has an opportunity for an administrator to join our busy practice support team, on either a full-time basis or part-time basis for 30-37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, to be decided by negotiation.

The post-holder will oversee, and take responsibility for, the administrative aspects of the practice. They will be responsible for various administrative duties and accountable to the practice operations manager and partners. The role will involve working closely with all members of the practice to meet agreed partnership aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment whilst maintaining a happy and committed team.

The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Managing and chasing-up incoming claims and forms for medical information from private companies i.e. insurance companies, DVLA, or patient requests;
  • Communicating with patients when payment is needed and when work is complete, as well as any other patient communication that may be required;
  • Managing requests regarding subject access rights (SARS) and allocating the completion of medical reports and private medical examination to the appropriate GP, in a fair manner;
  • Scanning all incoming correspondance;
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork.

About the Candidate

All candidates should have the following experience, skills and qualifications:
  • Customer care experience, both face-to-face and over the phone, ideally in a primary care setting;
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in addition to general education;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure;
  • Willingness to undertake training where required;
  • Ability to work as a team, but also using own initiative;
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated
The following experience or knowledge is desirable, however full training will be provided:
  • SystmOne experience;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Clinical coding experience.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
