Job Title: Administrative Support Officer - Finance
Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.
Location: Lambeth
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent MO2 Finance Assistant. This is a unique role within MO2 that will allow an individual to work directly with senior leaders to monitor and influence financial decisions to help the command deliver an effective service across policing. The successful candidate will assist in having oversight of an annual budget of over £100m and with the command going through a significant staff uplift this presents a particularly interesting time to support MO2’s finances.
Substantive Band D staff and those Band E on promotion are invited to consider the key responsibilities and essential criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial oversight of the budget envelope allocated to MO2
- Monitoring and reporting on expenditure of capital budgets and associated staffing costs, including overtime
- Monitoring of individual budgets to internal Heads of Unit; management of cost centre codes
- Financial forecasting and monitoring of reimbursements to budget envelope
- Financial oversight of project spends allocated through additional funding streams received from Home Office and MOPAC
- Engagement with MPS Strategic Finance Lead in support of budget monitoring and Quality Assurance of reporting
- Maintenance of internal financial records and systems in support of the responsibilities above
- Oversight of MO2 working time regulation compliance
- Additional business support functions as required by the DSU & DCI - HQ Functions, particularly those impacting command-wide on business effectiveness

Essential Criteria
- Excellent IT and administrative skills
- A proven track record of capturing, managing, and reporting on large and complex datasets
- The ability to assimilate large quantities of financial and associated data, draw out trends and issues, and present them in a meaningful way
- An effective communicator with the ability to engage, influence and negotiate with managers and wider senior leadership team stakeholders
- A flexible, pragmatic approach in support of the strategic aims of the command
- Willingness to undergo SC/MV vetting
Desirable Criteria
- A professional qualification in a relevant field, e.g., business or finance, would be desirable though not essential
