Our organisational strategy is aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and our globally recognised researchers advise governments, industry and international bodies. We’re ranked fourth in the world and first in the UK for promoting gender equality, in the top 70 universities globally for social impact, and first in Scotland for health and wellbeing, and reduced inequalities, for which we are also ranked 21st in the world (THE Impact Rankings, 2022). In 2020-21, we contributed £1.7 billion and more than 14,000 jobs across the globe (BIGGAR Economics, 2022).

GCU is committed to widening participation, and delivering positive outcomes for our students. We are Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships. With campuses in Glasgow, London and New York, we have transnational partnerships around the world, supporting more than 22,000 students from 130 countries. Guided by our values – integrity, responsibility, creativity and confidence - we transform the lives of the people and communities we serve.

Research at Glasgow Caledonian University is focused on addressing three major societal challenges related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: promoting healthy lives; sustainable environments; and inclusive societies. The ‘Research Centre for Health (ReaCH)’ focuses on the theme of ‘healthy lives’ and brings together our research excellence drawn from the allied health sciences, epidemiology, life sciences, nursing, social sciences, and population health.

The role holder will act as a first point of contact and contribute to the smooth running of the Research Centre for Health (ReaCH) by providing professional administrative support and an excellent level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

The postholder will be required to arrange travel and accommodation in accordance with the University’s financial procedures; process travel/catering arrangements/stationery/consumable orders for Centre using the online purchasing system PECOS; set-up and maintain confidential records and databases; provide administrative support for clerking both formal and informal meetings; manage webpages and social media accounts; manage relevant email inboxes and calendars, responding to queries ensuring that a professional, customer focused, prompt response is delivered.

The successful candidate should be educated to HNC level or have equivalent relevant experience as well as a working knowledge of processing orders via the PECOS eProcurement system or similar. Candidates should have the ability to manage and prioritise conflicting workloads; be articulate with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team. Additionally, candidates should have experience of using relevant office systems and database packages.

Experience of websites, social media, events and financial systems is desirable.
