The Moffat Centre, a unique travel and tourism research centre based at Glasgow Caledonian University, has since 1999 undertaken key consultancy and contract research projects in the travel and tourism industry. Centre profits have funded over £1.2 million worth of scholarships to GCU tourism and events students. This fast-paced dynamic Centre is looking to recruit a new member of staff to support the Moffat team.
The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective administration and clerical support for two fixed-term commercial research projects focussed on measuring visitation to Loch Lomond National Park and the Scottish Occupancy and Accommodation Survey (SOAS). It will provide a range of experience in the administration and collation of visitor data and accommodation occupancy. It provides a good foundation experience in commercial research and understanding data analysis.
You will have good administrative and organisational skills. You will also be required to exercise some personal responsibility and judgement in the planning and carrying out your work. You will be supported by the lead researchers. You will require a flexible attitude and an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will thrive in a busy and demanding environment that requires the ability to multi-task effectively and will be confident and professional. You will be comfortable working to tight deadlines, and dealing with a varied and high volume of clerical duties to support the Moffat Team.
The role will require regular site visits (up to five times a month) to the Loch Lomond area to undertake face-to-face consumer interviews, Previous work experience within market research or the tourism industry would be useful.
