The Sainsbury Laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide effective administrative assistance to the Professional Services team of the Institute. This is a varied and interesting role with a high level of interaction with all staff and visitors. The post holder will undertake a wide range of administrative tasks in support of Senior Managers in the Professional Services Team, including the Department Safety Officer and the Business and Operations Manager.
The role has a significant Health and Safety component and some knowledge of current H&S legislation would be beneficial. H&S is becoming increasingly in demand in the workplace and the position is a good opportunity to acquire experience in a field that is expanding.
The successful candidate will need to have good organisational skills and to use their initiative and judgment. The post holder will work with minimum supervision and will need to prioritise various assignments. They must have a pro-active approach to troubleshooting and problem solving. Some of the work is of a confidential nature and the ability to maintain confidentiality is paramount.
Candidates must have a good level of education, excellent interpersonal, and communication skills and be able to work well within a team environment. Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a higher education environment, is desirable, alongside a background in Health & Safety administration. Willingness to learn new skills is essential and the Laboratory will be supportive of necessary training.
The successful candidate will be highly competent in standard software packages, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and, preferably, have some working knowledge of SharePoint. The managing of custom software solutions is also part of the role.

The post is part time and available immediately.
Limited funding: The funds for this post are available until 31 December 2026 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
