The Gastroenterology team are looking for an enthusiastic new member to support our experienced Secretary Team.
You will play a key role in ensuring our patients have a positive experience, helping arrange appointments and ensuring a smooth patient journey through our service.
The post holder will be a support member of the secretary team, providing assistance to the Medical Secretaries, Consultants, Clinical Team, and other staff. They will be a point of contact for patient queries, and will support the arranging of patient appointments. The role will also provide general clerical service for the team, and may include some audio-transcription of clinic and results letters.

Respond to external and internal telephone enquiries from staff, patients and others in an efficient, tactful and diplomatic manner and ensure that any messages/information is passed to the appropriate person quickly.
Communicate with a wide range of staff, patients and visitors to the Trust / Department utilising a variety of communication methods including verbal, electronic and passing information in a format that is appropriate to the individual request
Collect and sort incoming mail to be actioned by Medical Secretary / Consultant or other healthcare professionals.
Undertake audio transcription of multi-speciality Consultant outpatient clinics, admin correspondence and any other correspondence ensuring all is prepared for signature promptly and to a high standard.
Use databases and computer packages where appropriate to initiate and maintain records and generate statistics for analytical purposes.
Interrogating patient records and data to ensure accuracy and updating Trust systems to reflect any updated information i.e. 18 week pathways and performance information
Provide secretarial and administrative support when other members of the team are absent.
