Job description
- Answer the Departmental telephone and deal with queries, give out authorised results to authorised personnel and redirect calls internally as appropriate.
- To enter results from referral laboratories into the laboratory Winpath system, verifying data and correct where necessary.
- Prepare, compile and sort documents for data entry.
- Provide secretarial support at various meetings; produce agenda and minutes.
- To provide administrative support to the Consultants, Head BMS, Senior Secretary/Administrator, Quality Lead and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Acts as a point of contact for all levels of hospital staff and outside agencies.
- Assists in the achievement of Departmental Objectives.
- To provide cover for members of the secretarial/administration team during periods of leave or absence.
- To provide administrative support, when necessary, to the wider Pathology Department
- To enter results from referral laboratories into the laboratory database
- Verify data and correct where necessary
- Obtain further information for incomplete documents
- Check completed work for accuracy
- Excellent typing and keyboard skills
- Efficient work management including planning, organising and prioritising
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain performance and work standards
- Undertake clerical duties such as sorting post and filing – that have direct bearing on the clinical work of the laboratory.
- Regularly update personal portfolio to show continuing development and maintenance of relevant skills.
- Demonstrate progress in achieving own personal objectives agreed during annual review.
- Deals with telephone and face to face enquiries efficiently and sensitively, respecting patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ordering of stationery and lab equipment and ensuring levels maintained.
