Post title: Health Placements Administrator

FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH5 £26,642 pa with potential to progress to £29,762 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane, Hatfield
The Health Placements Team is a complex and varied team that looks after numerous Health Placements across three schools – The School of Health and Social Work, The school of Life and Medical Sciences and The School of Creative Arts. The team assist with many Practice Placement related administrative duties such as planning placements, organising DBS checks, coordinating the ordering of students uniforms name badges and other essential placement items, arranging placement legal agreements, payment of placement tariffs, processing travel and accommodation claims, Higher Education England reporting and various other placement associated admin.
The Health Placements team sits within Academic Registry, one of the University’s largest Strategic Business Units, and supports the business and its administration through a number of dedicated teams who provide an expert central service supporting students throughout their journey from enquiry to award.
Whilst we are primarily based on campus in Hatfield, most teams in Academic Registry operate hybrid working arrangements that allow most staff the option to work from home (in the UK) on a regular basis if they wish to. The Health Placements operates a policy of 60% in the office and 40% at home following a successful probation period.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will be undertaking a range of general placement administrative duties primarily supporting the planning of placements. You will be proactive and flexible in your approach and be able to provide excellent customer service to students, academics and Practice Partners. You will also be supporting other areas of the team including tariff payments, travel claims, DBS checks, absence reporting and other general placement duties.
Skills and experience required
To have appropriate proven administrative experience at an appropriate level is essential. You must be numerate, literate and have good IT skills, particularly using MS Office packages, databases and web-based communication platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom and similar. You will have a methodical approach and be able to manage a varied workload to tight deadlines as well as the ability to work under pressure. You will be able to recognise and respect the confidential nature of the data you handle. Comfortable working in a team but able to demonstrate initiative and work with limited supervision, you will have a can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications required
You will hold A-levels or equivalent or instead have proven professional work experience in a similar area of work.
