We provide one to one counselling and family support for people struggling with addictive behaviours.

Start Recovery is a private addictions counselling service based in Leeds, LS16. We are looking for a highly motivated addictions counsellor to join our expanding team. You will be provided with a steady stream of motivated clients who are ready for talking therapy.
We support people across West Yorkshire with substance misuse problems through talking therapy and using the latest evidence-based approaches.
As an Addictions Counsellor, you will make a real difference to the lives of people wanting to recover from substance misuse or other addictive behaviours. You will work with clients to develop the personal, flexible and realistic relationship that they need to help turn things around, allied to evidence-based recovery models.
Passionate about people and non-judgemental about substance misuse, you'll be at the beginning of what promises to be a challenging and fulfilling journey. Role Responsibility
We're looking for an Addiction Counsellor who is natural at building trudting relationships, whether that's with service users, social services, clinical services, mental health teams, probation professionals or recovery support. We are looking for candidates;
- To contribute to assessments of clients within agreed timescales.
- To deliver therapeutic support through group-work sessions and one to one sessions.
- To counsel individuals about their substance use.
- To help individuals address their addictive behaviours.
- To maintain records of the client / counsellor interactions.
- To explore, implement and supervise a range of approaches, activities and exercises, which are designed to promote health and support individuals in recovery.
- Ensure that all administration, case recording, written reports etc. are maintained accurately.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an Addiction Counsellor to join our experienced team, predominantly working from our treatment room in North Leeds for face to face clients and from home using zoom for onliine sessions. You will be a compassionate, caring person who is proficient in the role responsibilities, with a creative flare. We are looking for an individual who has not only experience in counselling, but can also be pro-active in using social media and technology for advertising and marketing. You will have both experience of the adult substance misuse sector as well as having at least 18 months of counselling experience.
Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment, you'll have an understanding of substance misuse and the recovery agenda. Naturally, we look for our Counsellors to have excellent communication skills and an ability to be flexible and take on an extremely varied role. A slant towards approaches in CBT, REBT, DBT, ACT and Person-Centred Therapies are preferred.
Candidates who are in long term sustained recovery themselves are preferred but not essential.
Minimum Qualification;
Level 4 Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy
Enhanced DBS on the update service (Adults)
MUST HAVE membership with at least ONE of the following BCAP, UKCP, FDAP, ACAT, ACC, BABCP, COSCA, NCS, IACP, UKATA
At least 18 months experience in Counselling or Talking Therapies within the field of substance misuse/addiction.
