Actuarial 2023 summer intern programme

Use your passion for maths and problem solving to experience life working in our Scottish Widows insurance business which makes an important difference to the lives of our customers at times when they most need our help.

The summer internship will run for 10-12 weeks from June/July 2023

Edinburgh or Bristol with opportunities to move between sites if so desired.

As you might expect our actuarial team members are highly numeric and strategic, and have strong analytical skills. They’re also deeply inquisitive people who are passionate about what our six million insurance customers really need. They can spot the big issues in the finer details and can expertly explain complexity in a simple way!

  • Work in collaborative teams that provide exciting careers as well as an understanding and support needed for the IFoA exams in the future!
  • Are able to ask colleagues a lot of questions and learn on the job, every day; and
  • Become well-versed in explaining complex number-sets through clear and concise stories, sometimes using data visualisation tools.
What you need to apply
  • You’re expected to achieve at least a 2:2 degree
  • A passion for problem solving and an ability for logical thinking
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the office and from home
