Job description
Actor
York Dungeon, 12 Clifford St
York, NORTH YORKSHIRE, YO1 9RD
United Kingdom
OI PEASANTS! WE’RE RECRUITING…
Ever fancied being part of the scariest and funniest journey through York’s most perilous past as one of our many infamous characters? You could find yourself tackling the role of The Torturer, a warrior from Viking Age York, The Lord Chief Justice, Guy Fawkes, or even Margaret Clitherow, amongst others.
We’re bringing together an outstanding cast of theatrical actors. Apply now… IF YOU DARE!
What we are looking for
- Someone who is outstanding at performing scripts and character acting
- A good knowledge of voice control and taking direction
- Performance skills that could be utilised to create memorable experiences for our guests
- A BA (Hons) or equivalent in Acting, Performance, Performing Arts, Theatre or similar (desirable)
- At least 18 years or older
We welcome all applications and do not cast based on ethnicity, identified gender, or body size.
There’s a variety of characters to sink your teeth into. Each character delivers a short, scripted show, which is crafted to be interactive, so improvisation will also form a key part to your performance.
As well as maintaining strong characterisation throughout each show, you’ll also be operating and controlling special effects during your performance, to enhance the whole experience. At peak times, you’ll be performing shows every 8 to 10 minutes and as this is a dungeon after all, you’ll be working in dark, somewhat confined spaces.
These roles are seasonal to help with the upcoming summer period. You’ll need to be flexible with working hours and days, which will include weekdays, weekends and public holidays as the need arises. Working hours could also include some evenings, for special events such as our ‘Dungeon Lates’ experience.
To be considered please attach your acting CV and an up-to-date Head shot.
What’s in it for you
Alongside the opportunity to inflict your unique personality on guests from across the nation, you’ll also receive:
- Fortnightly pay at £11.30 per hour
- 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% off LEGO online
- Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year
- Employee pricing up to 55% off cinema tickets
The cell doors are open and ready to welcome you…
