Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA) is a unique award-winning company set up to support adult care providers within Hertfordshire to raise quality standards of care. We are a non-profit member’s association. We support over 600 care organisations to improve the quality of care they provide across a variety of projects such as staff training and providing information and guidance. We also provide additional services and projects such as a fully funded Recruitment service, Impartial Feedback services and the Stop Falls Service.

We are now recruiting for an Care Home Activity Lead Educator to lead and provide education and support to the Engagement staff within the Private, Voluntary and Independent Adult Social Care Workforce of Hertfordshire as part of the HCPA Prevention and Enablement Service. This role would require training and support to Managers, staff and outside professionals to implement new strategies to improve engagement.

What does the role of Care Home Activity Lead Educator involve?

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver engagement education to activity and engagement staff, support staff and managers in care services.

2. Deliver Prevention and Enablement education online and face to face, including Falls and Frailty

3. Deliver Chair Based Exercise Qualification to care and support staff.

4. Mentor/ Coach engagement and care staff in engagement and chair based exercise to ensure embed day to day plans.

5. Oversee communication, CPD and forums for engagement staff across he county

6. Support providers to ensure engagement plans and activities are clearly linked to the personalised support plans including individuals outcomes to a achieve a holistic person centred approach.

7. Ensure Hertfordshire’s ethos of connected lives is embedded throughout work.

8. Ensure that providers are evidencing being risk positive through plans and records.

9. Ensure that our Engagement staff actively encourage independence by making sure movement is embedded through activity.

10. Support providers to Identify people who are at the most risk of decline in their independence, supporting with next steps for individuals to get involved with groups/societies in the broader community.

11. Create and update resources for HCPA website specifically for engagement staff

12. Support as needed in other aspects of the Prevention and Enablement team.

Am I the right candidate for the Care Home Activity Lead Educator role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has excellent communication skills.

We are also looking for you to have:

  • Experience leading in delivering engagement within care homes and mentoring other engagement staff/support staff
  • Experience of delivering chair-based exercises and holding a level 2 qualification.
  • MUST own transport with insurance for business use is essential for this role as travel around Hertfordshire is required.
  • Willing to undertake training and qualification required for the role within the first 3 months. This includes: Award in education, Certificate in Vocational Assessing, OTAGO, Moving and Assisting and relevant champion courses.
  • All candidates will have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before taking up this position.
