We’ve created a Centre of Excellence in Newcastle to support our client engagement teams throughout the UK and as an Accounts and Audit Associate here, you’ll play a key role in our continued success.
Our client facing people are spread across the UK, working from several regional offices. At the Newcastle Centre of Excellence, we support them all.
The Newcastle Centre of Excellence is designed to assist our client facing colleagues with the completion of audit procedures on the statutory accounts and enables the delivery of centralised, high-quality audit to client facing teams.
You will provide remote support to our nationwide client engagement teams in
completing tasks associated with the audit of statutory accounts. It will involve day-to-day liaison with client engagement teams and will enable you to develop an understanding of company accounts. With our supportive culture and hands-on training, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter specialist, develop best practice methodologies and deliver the quality service our high-profile clients know to expect.
Specifically, you will have responsibility for:
- Proof reading accounts for calculation errors.
- Checking disclosures for compliance with company law and accounting standards
- Agreement of information included within the accounts to supporting documentation provided by audit engagement teams
- Undertaking other administrative tasks to assist audit teams

Essential:
- Keen to learn and become a specialist in your own right
- You’ll be mathematically competent and have an eye for detail
- Confident and articulate with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn, develop and apply the technical knowledge gained through our extensive training and development plan
- Able to display initiative, professionalism, diligence and discretion at all time
- A flexible multi-tasker: You’ll be working on multiple engagements simultaneously
- Computer literacy is a must. You’ll be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and have an ability to learn new packages quickly
- GCSEs or equivalent with a minimum grade C in English and grade B in Maths.
Our team come from a wide range of backgrounds: from having little or no prior experience to having more accounting or finance experience. Personal independence
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. Location: Newcastle office but we are offering Hybrid working. Typically this means you are encouraged but not expected to attend the office on a set basis. Office attendance is however expected for various meetings, training sessions and some social events.

Work pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity to be worked on a full-time basis. Full time hours would be 35 hours per week. Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we’ll try to accommodate.
