Zoop are delighted to be working a local client, recruiting for an Assistant Accountant. Our client are a successful, market leading, fine food wholesaler and manufacturer offering the independent retailer a fantastic choice of over 2,000 high quality, premium preserves, marmalades, honey, chutneys, condiments, sauces, pickles, cakes, biscuits, snacks, gift boxes, hampers and confectionery.
The group comprises two divisions – a wholesale distribution division with £20M turnover and employing 90 people and a manufacturing division with £5M turnover and employing 40 people.

It would suit someone who is methodical and highly organised and able to work on their own as well as part of a team. You must possess the ability to support team members, communicate at all levels and work to strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports such as daily KPIs and sales analysis, working to deadlines
- Assist with the preparation of monthly group management accounts
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Prepare and submit P11D returns
- Assist with the preparation of year end accounts and audit pack
- Assist with the preparation of annual and monthly financial forecasts
- Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the business
- Prepare month end supplier payments for authorisation
- Check and authorise employee expense claims
- Assist the Group Financial Controller with adhoc duties and projects
The ideal candidate will be someone who is:
- Part or newly qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or with at least 1 year’s experience in a similar role
- Strong all round accountancy skills and knowledge of how a finance function in industry needs to operate
- Strong IT skills including Outlook and MS Office, particularly MS Excel
- Confident and clear communicator
- Positive, friendly and mature with a professional approach
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately, especially when under pressure
- Possess excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
