Accounts Assistant
We are currently looking for a confident Accounts Assistant to support the busy Finance Team for one of the UK’s leading independent, family-owned dairies, with 85 years’ successful history.
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Financial Accountant- who will process transactions accurately and raise questions if any queries arise.
You must be confident using Sage 200 or similar accounting systems and demonstrate good Excel skills. You will also be numerate, proactive and have great attention to detail. You will be AAT qualified to level 3 or, ideally level 4

£26,000 pa

Hours of work:
Full time (40 hours per week)
Monday – Friday
9am – 5pm

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the Farmer milk record keeping process – transfer data from milk slips to MAPS System and Milk Purchasing Spreadsheet ensuring accuracy and checking for discrepancies against the Milk in Production Spreadsheet
- Maintenance of customer direct debit process – set up and amend direct debits for both Doorstep and Credit Customers.
To Include: Entering on Opal, Updating Access
- For Credit Customer Direct Debits: Communicating internally with credit control department the completed Spreadsheet for payment timeframes for new Credit Customers.
- Sending out direct debit confirmation letters for all Rbook and Credit Customers, to include any amendments to instructions
- Action Weekly ADDACS Reports for cancellations of Direct Debits.
To include: Removing from Opal and Access, Locating Original Paper form and Destroying. Notifying relevant Depots of the list of cancellations
- Cash Book Analysis and Postings – Analyse and Code Weekly bank export for CDL and WPL and enter into Sage 200.
To Include: review of Cheques issued
- Analysis and posting of Company Credit Cards
- Weekly Petty cash – Analysis, Coding and Posting of invoices and Journals to Sage 200
- Stock reconciliation/stock valuations
- Assist with Month End journals and Balance Sheet control account reconciliations
- Profit and Loss analysis (Multi)
- Assist with the Purchase ledger - supplier statement reconciliations
- Assist with Sales invoice processing - raise ad hoc sales invoices
- Other ad hoc tasks, as required
About you:
- Attention to detail, numerate, inquisitive
- Works well in a team; always willing to help colleagues
- Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative
- AAT level 3 or 4 preferred
- Good IT skills (Excel & Word) – Sage 200 would be a beneficial
