The specific tasks the new recruit would be based on their skill level, knowledge and experience. The Accounts team, as a whole, is responsible for the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts, Purchase and Sales Ledger, Bank Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Budgeting, Payroll, VAT, Monthly Composite input for the whole of the Rowes Group, 6 car dealerships in Plymouth and Cornwall. In addition, creating and maintaining other bespoke reports for various department managers which wouldn’t traditionally be seen as within the scope of an Accounts department.
Ideally, we’d be looking for someone with an understanding of the Management Accounts preparation process, someone with Motor Retail experience would be ideal, but not essential, but would need to be keen to learn about the Motor Retail sector, along with telephone skills to answer accounts queries through to resolution, after training.
Good IT skills, a good working knowledge of Excel would need to be demonstrated, along with the ability to take ownership of unresolved issues. With regard to qualifications, ideally, you’d be AAT Level 3 or 4 or have comparable experience. Maths grades A-C, 9 – 4 or 1 – 5, experience of accounts packages and telephone skills.
