McLaughlin Construction are currently looking to recruit an ambitious Accounts & Admin Assistant to enhance the smooth running of our office team and liaise with our suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of the company accounts function.
We are a key player in the construction industry with our 70 years in the trade. We pride ourselves in the work that we do in the public and private housing sector and are looking to grow our staff to support the future growth plans for the business.
In this role, you will work alongside our Company Accountant to support the day to day running of the department. You will receive induction and on the job training whilst also having the opportunity to develop your skill set via distance learning.
You will have your own areas of responsibility and will also be expected to support and contribute to the daily running of the office which may require you to be agile and innovative at times.
We are looking for someone with a growth mindset who is looking to develop their career and grow with the business. Ideally candidate will come with:
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Good numeracy and mathematical skills
· The desire and ability to work as part of a team
· Problem solving skills and good attention to detail
· A good working knowledge of related computer applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook, a basic knowledge of Sage 50 accounts would be beneficial but not essential
· Knowledge of basic accountancy practises that are demonstrated through academic qualifications and / or via success in previous similar roles would be beneficial but not essential. The technical skills can be learned on the job.
In this role you will:
· Carry out accounts’ administration duties, for example, compiling delivery lines, invoices and statements, processing payments, CIS verification
· Price check invoices
· Liaise with utility suppliers
· Input basic data entry into Sage and Excel
· Monitor, prioritise and manage emails
· Have the opportunity to increase your responsibilities as training progresses.
The role is full time (37.5 hours inclusive of breaks), permanent and is based in our Head Office in Irvine. Our working week is Mon – Fri. Hours may be able to be performed flexibly to suit the needs of the individual and the business.
