Right now we are recruiting an Accounts and Access Analyst to work in our Technology Operations Directorate. The role sits under the End User Compute Services within Technology Operations Directorate who are responsible for delivering, managing and operating the corporate IT services to the Department.
Our aim is to provide modern, reliable, flexible services that allow simple, secure access to Departmental services, deploying and managing modern desktop devices, using industry best practices.
The role of the Accounts and Access Analyst is to ensure that our DfE colleagues are up and running as soon as possible. You will be the first point of contact for over 9,500 internal users and multiple external user groups that interact with DfE’s externally facing IT Services.
Accounts and Access are responsible for delivering a reliable and timely service consisting of Active Directory Administration and Exchange Admin Centre. You will be responsible for ensuring that strict security procedures are adhered too at all times.
You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure that our user’s requirements are met. You will be accountable for maintaining business critical services in a fast-paced, pressurised environment and be able to stay calm under pressure.
About the Apprenticeship:
As this role includes completion of the Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Apprenticeship (Level 6) or Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Level 7), depending on experience, please check the eligibility requirements below using the apprenticeship standard: Digital and technology solutions professional or Digital and technology solutions specialist.
- You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
- You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.

- You already have all the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- Your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.

- Part of this apprenticeship is to complete a level 2 English and maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and maths at Level 4 (grade C) or equivalent or a higher grade, you will not need to complete the functional skills qualification.
At the enrolment stage, the individual's eligibility will be checked by the training provider.
Job description
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality support services for a range of IT systems and services, many of which are business critical.
- Use Active Directory and Exchange Admin Centre to create and administer accounts that are used by both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all requests received within the team queue are reviewed, and handled within the timeframes specified for the SLA/priority assigned
- Make extensive use of the organisations IT Toolset for Incident and Problem Management, request fulfilment, ensuring Service Level agreements are met
- Ensure processes and systems are well documented follow security guidelines and current best practices, reviewing such processes regularly, revising as and when required.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and users to help understand their business requirements and priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation and self-service.
- Carry out testing of new system functionality where appropriate.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience of working with Active Directory
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Products. E.g. Outlook, Teams, Word & Excel.
- Experience of Exchange Admin Centre
- The ability to use your own initiative to aid in diagnostics.
Desirable criteria:
- An understanding of ITIL methodology
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow.
- Previous experience of working in a busy team where priorities can change frequently.
- Windows 10/11 experience.
Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.

Interview
If you are successful in reaching interview stage you will be interviewed by a panel which will last for approximately 60 minutes. The panel will ask you some questions focusing on Behaviours and how well you are able to demonstrate your suitability for the role in alignment to the essential criteria.
Sift date to be confirmed. Interviews will likely take place in week commencing 10th and 17th July 2023, via a Microsoft teams video call. Please ensure that you have access to this software and that you have your video turned on.

Terms and conditions of candidates transferring from ALBs and NDPBs
Bodies that are not accredited by the Civil Service Commission and are not able to advertise at Across Government on Civil Service jobs will be treated as external new starters and will come into DfE on modernised terms and conditions with a salary at the band minimum.
Bodies that are accredited by the Civil Service Commission but do not have civil service status will be offered modernised terms and will not have continuous service recognised for leave or sickness benefits. Salaries should be offered at band minimum, but there is some flexibility where this would cause a detriment to the individual.
Bodies that are accredited by the Civil Service Commission and do have Civil Service status will be treated as OGD transfers. Staff appointed on lateral transfer will move on to pre-modernised DfE terms (unless they were on modernised terms in their previous organisation). Staff appointed on promotion will move on to modernised DfE terms. Staff will transfer over on their existing salary (on lateral transfer) and any pay above the DfE pay band maximum will be paid as a mark time allowance. Staff moving on promotion will have their salaries calculated using the principles set out in the attached OGD transfer supplementary information.
