Summary
Wiltshire Council has an exciting opportunity to join its Accountancy Team as an Accounting Technician. We're looking for four individuals to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.
LIVE WORK SUPPORT
Responsible for the maintenance and development of the council’s financial records and the resultant production of the council’s statement of accounts, budget monitoring and setting, and government returns, ensuring that all decisions are taken in the light of available funds and within the council’s financial procedures.
About the role
You will be responsible for the compilation and analysis of regular financial reports in respect of specific service areas using the Council’s financial management systems to inform and assist budget managers to understand the reports to enable accurate financial forecasting. You will work with budget managers, heads of Finance and Principal Accountants to resolve queries and variances and will be involved in budget preparation, accounts closure as well as completion of statutory returns and grant claims.
You will assist in the effective use of the Council’s liquid resources (cash) including Investments, Borrowing, Imprest Accounts and Petty Cash balances.
About you
You will be a qualified Accounting Technician (AAT) or part qualified with relevant and appropriate experience. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of budget preparation, monitoring and accounts closure. You will have excellent IT and numeracy skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Interviews to be held on the week commencing 06 March 2023.
