Accounting Technician
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Accounting Technician provides a high level of support and contributes to a comprehensive, efficient, and accurate reporting process meeting both internal and external stakeholder requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain and update financial records and working papers in an organized manner
- Reconcile balance sheets accounts
- Prepare and administer of payroll
- Calculate and file government remittances such as GST, PST, etc.
- Manage of accounts payable, expense reports and credit cards, including purchase order matching and vendor inquiries
- Prepare bi-weekly vendor payments
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Process month end transactions
- Implement internal controls based on the organization authorization policies.
- Other general offices duties, such as filing and maintaining documentation
- Contribute to the optimization of accounting processes and systems
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration on various special projects and related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high level of accuracy & attention to detail with excellent organization skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines with multiple priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office Excel
- Related experience (3 years accounting work) and/or post-secondary certificate in the field of accounting
- Experience with QuickBooks considered an asset
Salary commensurate with education and experience. This position includes a hybrid work arrangement.
The successful candidate will be required to submit a criminal record check.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
