Job description
Based in Aberdeen and reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the Accountant will play a key role in the accounting preparation for NOV UK Rig companies. This is an ideal opportunity for an exceptional individual willing to take on fresh challenges, utilise your financial, reporting and business skills within a variety of exciting initiatives and company objectives.
Role covers but not limited to:
- Full responsibility for the preparation of the monthly income statement and fully reconciled balance sheet for Rig Aftermarket UK
- Responsible for Chart of Accounts maintenance and mapping
- Prepare & approve various VAT returns and other government submissions
- Coordination of internal and external audit and statutory requirements alongside the Senior Accountant
- Responsibility for the timely preparation of the quarterly SOX compliance documentation
- Regarded as one of the principal ledger contacts for internal and external auditors alongside the Senior Accountant
- Preparation and timely submission of the annual statutory audit pack for the ledger to the statutory reporting team
- Review of and timely submission of the monthly Cash Forecast.
- To review & approve various cash transfers and payments both at a ledger level and wider group level
- To provide financial information and analysis for ad-hoc requests and actively participate in other projects where relevant
- To provide holiday and adhoc cover for the Senior accountant and other team members, when necessary
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications
- Degree in Accountancy or Finance or equivalent (Essential)
- Qualified accountant (Essential)
- Previous experience working within a large GL accounting environment (Desirable)
Experience
- Extensive knowledge of working within a financial / accounting environment (Essential)
- Working knowledge of SOX reporting (Essential)
- Experience working within Glovia and Oracle ERP systems (Desirable)
- Knowledge of US GAAP standards (Desirable)
- Previous ERP implementation experience (Desirable)
Skills Training or Special Knowledge
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
