WorkSafeNB is seeking a casual full-time Bookkeeper (Accounting Clerk). Hours of operation are Monday to Friday anywhere from 8:00-5:00 PM (35 hrs./week). Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounting Services, you will perform the duties related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Self-Insured Employers and such sub-systems as Cost of Claims and Annuities with related reconciliations and reporting.Your key areas of responsibility include:• Processing daily accounts receivable on various systems including all cash, cheques and electronic funds received.• Performing daily banking requests and requirements in addition to bank account reconciliations.• Processing daily accounts payable ensuring proper approval and coding is obtained. As well as verify supplier statements for accuracy.• Managing the self-insured employer process including monthly invoicing, responding to enquiries and follow-up on collections.• Reconciling various sub-ledger(s), systems and sub-systems and reports and ensure their accuracy and completeness, based on pre-defined parameters.• Reconciling daily benefit cheques and accurately send data files to bank and upload daily files received using the Payee Match System and release daily benefit.• Assisting the department in achieving the objectives towards the vision, mission, values, strategic plan and goals.• Complying with, acknowledging, and enforcing, where applicable, safety management directives, procedures, and safe work practices.• Taking every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of fellow employees.• Promoting a high quality of performance by providing client-centered services through continued improvement in policies, procedures, and programs.• Performing any other duties, as required, for the efficient operation of the office.
You, as a successful candidate, possess:• Must have completed a one-year diploma in accounting/bookkeeping, as a minimal educational requirement.• Must have two years of relevant work experience in accounting.• An equivalent combination of greater education, combined with less work experience may be considered (e.g., two-year business diploma, with major or minor in accounting, with one year of relevant work experience or a university degree, with major or minor in accounting, with one year of relevant work experience).• Must be able to function within the MS Office Products, e.g., Excel, Word and Access.
Written and spoken competency in English is required.Hourly rate is $24.57.
