Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Location: Riverside, Southern California
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Clerk to join our team in Riverside, Southern California. This role will be responsible for handling various accounting functions, including accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), payroll, and providing support in human resources (H/R). The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Receivable (A/R):
- Generate and process customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
- Provide support in collections efforts to ensure timely receipt of payments.
- Assist in analyzing A/R aging reports and identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Collaborate with the sales team to address customer inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
2. Accounts Payable (A/P):
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper coding.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors in a timely manner.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of A/P transactions and vendor communications.
- Assist in analyzing A/P reports and identifying areas for process improvement.
- Collaborate with internal departments to address A/P inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
3. Human Resources (H/R) Support:
- Provide administrative support in various H/R functions, such as employee onboarding, benefits administration, and record-keeping.
- Assist in maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Support recruitment efforts by posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Assist in payroll processing and ensuring accurate calculation of employee compensation.
- Help facilitate employee training and development initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive H/R information with discretion.
4. General Accounting Support:
- Payroll administrative duties
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Help ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with exposure to A/R, A/P, and/or H/R functions.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with H/R processes and employment laws/regulations is a plus.
